Congress passed the Army Reorganization Act in 1866, and with it created six brand new regiments, with both infantry and cavalry units, tasked with protecting settlers and wagon trains, stagecoaches and railroad crews. The soldiers in these regiments became known collectively as the Buffalo Soldiers. In 1992, Congress designated July 28 as National Buffalo Soldiers Day.
In celebration of this historic occasion, the Southwest Association of Buffalo Soldiers (SWABS), The Sierra Vista Historical Society and Camp Naco invite you to honor the legacy of the Buffalo Soldiers. This year, our theme will be "Service on The Frontier".
Camp Naco is located at 2118 W. Newell St. Naco, AZ 85620
