Grecia Alvares

Intern

Grecia is beginning her second year at Cochise College. A resident of Douglas, Grecia is majoring in Social and Behavioral Sciences, and was introduced to the Camp Naco project by her Anthropology instructor. Grecia is excited for the opportunity, and hopes to gain a deeper understanding of the regional history, and the changing landscape of southeast Arizona. She also believes the internship can help her be an advocate for Camp Naco while she learns how it “can create a positive and powerful impact in society today and in the future.” Grecia has been assisting us with research and was able to participate in a hands-on adobe workshop. Grecia’s most memorable work experience thus far has been her interaction with the HOPE Crew, when they made their visit to Camp Naco through the National Trust for Historic Preservation in July. Of that, Grecia says, “this experience allowed me to create connections, learn the art of making adobe, and understand how, in a big world, plenty of people are like you, with similar interests and dedication.”
