Hailey Smith

Intern

Hailey, a Sierra Vista native, is in her third year with Cochise College, seeking her degree in Psychology.  Hailey discovered the Camp Naco Project through her Anthropology instructor, and notes day 1 as the most memorable moment from her work experience thus far. “The first day we went to see [Camp Naco],” Hailey states, “it was the first time I saw the Camp with my own eyes.” Hailey isn’t alone in this sentiment as many members of Cochise County have told us they’ve been surprised to discover a rich piece of history so close to home. We’re grateful and excited to bring attention to the site to many, including Hailey, who will be learning about archaeological monitoring under the supervision of WestLand Engineering & Environmental Services, as well as assisting with research assignments, building condition reports, among various other activities.  Hailey hopes to gain out of this Camp Naco internship, “a deeper look into the history of Camp Naco,” and just like us, she’s excited “to see it fixed up.” Welcome aboard, Hailey!
